Elizabeth “Betty” Cullen

Elizabeth “Betty” Cullen, 92, died peacefully at home on Nov. 5, 2014. She was surrounded by the love of her family, friends, and support from Visiting Angels and VNA Hospice.

Betty was born in Hartford, Conn., on July 18, 1922, to Marion and George Keller. She grew up in California with her older brother Bill, graduating from Cornell University in 1943 with a degree in psychology.

Betty enlisted in the WAVES, joining a family tradition of serving in the Navy. As an officer, she managed a group of enlisted women who broke communication codes [Read more …]

Constance Clayton Calderwood

Constance Clayton Calderwood died peacefully at the Terraces in Orleans, Mass., on May 6, 2014, at the age of 87.

Connie was born on May 12, 1926, in West Boylston, Mass. She grew up in a family with strong values and traditions. Connie completed her five-year nursing degree at Simmons College with her BSN in 1948 and worked with the Visiting Nurse Association in Brooklyn, N.Y., until she married Dr. Owen Calderwood on July 14, 1951.

Lisa A. (Visconti) Mahaney, 59, of 835 South Street, Middlebury and East Orleans, MA passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at Waterbury Hospital after a long and courageous battle with Diabetes. She was surrounded by her loving family including her beloved husband Attorney D.J. Mahaney. She married D.J. in October of 1983 and returned to Waterbury. Nora Keeling Hersey, 86, of East Orleans, MA, died peacefully on October 24. Born in Walhalla, ND, the first child of Victoria and Harold Keeling, she graduated a year early from high school, and graduated from The University of Minnesota. Later, she completed studies for her Master’s degree in Special Education at The University of Minnesota. Her first teaching job was at the Grey School, a one-room schoolhouse in Lamoure, ND, which is now a historical landmark. She received the North Dakota Teacher of the Year Award. David Dunaway of Oakton, VA, and Orleans, MA went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 24, 2013, with his family by his side. He is the loving husband of 43 years to Nancy Dunaway and devoted father of Keely (Francesco) Lauretti; brother of Stuart (Patricia) Dunaway; and cherished grandfather of Daniel David and Luke Michael Lauretti.

Dr. Howard Randall Deming

Dr. Howard Randall Deming died peacefully on May 5th, 2013 surrounded by his family. Randy
Deming was born to John G. Deming and Isabelle McGovern Deming, April 8, 1932, in St.

Albans, VT. He attended Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans and later entered the Hotchkiss
School in Lakeville, CT, as a post-graduate scholarship student, graduating in 1951.

He graduated from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH in 1955 and the University of Vermont
