Village Market Closes
The Village Market, known to long-term residents as "Fancy's", has closed its doors for good this winter. Experiencing slow sales in tough economic times, the owner is shutting the storefront down. Cynthia Suonpera and her husband “Red", owners of The Village Market, have closed down the storefront after their lease expired on Dec 31st, 2010. The building is up for sale by their landlord, and rumor has it that a gourmet market may open in the new location under different owners. Orleans WInds Make National News
Record-breaking winds pounded Orleans, but it managed to escape the snow that stalled New Englanders, and even those in New York City. While certainly not the worst snowstorm New England has faced, its timing right after Christmas left many travelers stranded, and gave many others a good excuse to stay close to home. Our weather station on the Bluff measured a high of 66 mph, giving the blizzard hurricane-level winds with the speed of a highway car. The Barnacles Barn Show July 4th
The Barnacles are playing one of their famous Barn Shows on Saturday, July 4th at 4 Standish Road. The show is open to all families and guests, but if you live in the Heights, please walk or get dropped off as parking is limited. The Barn is open at 7:00pm, music starts at 8:30pm. BYOB. Come enjoy what has become a wonderful summer tradition on the Heights.
